Local Area Guide: Things to do / Activities / AttractionsWe are located in Central Idaho; approximately a two-hour drive North of Boise. This area is also known as the White-Water Capital of Idaho and Spring brings over 60 class III and IV rapids from Riggins down through Garden Valley on the Salmon and Payette Rivers. You`ll also find some of the best fly-fishing in the world on the Salmon and Snake Rivers. Want to really get away from it all? Access to the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness Area, and Hells Canyon National Monument are within an hour`s drive. There are over 200 mountain lakes for fishing, hiking and mountain biking and no trip would be complete without a visit to historic Burgdorf and Gold Fork Hot Springs. When the weather changes, you`ll find 5 championship golf courses in our surrounding communities. McCall is a quaint lakeside town and offers numerous restaurants and shopping to enjoy when you are not out recreating. Central Idaho offers so much to see and do that you really need all four-seasons to experience all of the different recreational opportunities that happen year-round. WINTER Donnelly is located in Valley County which is linked to the south and north by a series of groomed snowmobile trails that cover over 1100 miles. This is Idaho`s ultimate snowmobile haven! In our backyard is the new world-class, Tamarack Resort, North America`s first in over 23 years, with the largest half-pipe in the Northwest. Brundage Ski Resort recently opened new terrain and is just 4-miles north of McCall. If you are into Nordic skiing, Tamarack has over 30km of groomed trails and even allows pets. Ponderosa State Park has groomed trails, nestled in 60ft Ponderosa Pines and Douglas Firs and beautiful views of Payette Lake. Snow-shoeing is accessable almost anywhere you go. We can point you to back-country trails, but in most cases, you can leave from your front door. Your winter trip would not be complete without a trip to Burgdorf Hot Springs where a trip by snowmobile is required to see this historic old town and enjoy the hot, spring waters in a large pool or closer to home, Gold Fork Hot Springs which is accessable by car year-round. SPRING AND FALL Snow leaves early and arrives late in our mountain resort community. At only 5000` feet, we enjoy warm weather early and late into the Fall. In the Spring, the wildflowers are out in force and countless forest service trails become available for hiking, biking and horseback riding. Most area Golf Courses are available for play. Let the guides point you in the right direction for fly-fishing on nearby rivers and lakes. This area also offers a variety of big-game hunting in the Fall. SUMMER Central Idaho is know for its world-class whitewater rafting and kayaking. The southfork and middlefork of the Payette has over 60 class III and IV rapids. To the north of us is the Hell`s Canyon and Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness Area and 1-7 days rafting expeditions are available on the Salmon and Snake Rivers. For golf-enthusiast, we have five courses located in the nearby communities of Tamarack, McCall, Jug Mountain, Whitetail and Meadowcreek. All those snowmobile trails during the winter turn into ATV, mountain bike, hiking, dual sport riding and horsebackriding trails. And, most importantly are the Lakes - Payette and Cascade. Warm summer days, beaches and perfect temperatures for swimming, water-skiing, jet-ski`s, sailing, yachting and fishing.
